By now we all seen the news or on social media how the west and mid-west of the country is or will be affected by a winter storm that has stopped most people from their daily activities.
Along with high winds and quick dropping temperature levels, some city officials have warned residents to stay inside if possible due to the potential threat of dangerous weather that has claimed three lives so far. In the Northeast, temperatures are expected to fall below their normal ranges during this time of the months (20 degrees drop). Its no wonder some 3700 flights have been cancelled between Saturday and Sunday. If you are a brave soul and need to go out for what ever reason, we urge you to prepare yourself with winter gear that stands up to these temperatures. Our clothing is not only for industrial workers that work in temperature controlled warehouses or docks but for people that need to fight of extreme cold weather.
With all this foul weather, you can bet that the snow plows will be out in full force. News reports have said that this polar blast will be on off until the early part of February. So preparation is key here. When ever there is a break in the snow storm and its safe to go out gather your supplies for a few day until the chill pass.
Hope all of you had a great summer. Now that kids are back in school I was able to take a short vacation to my hometown of New York City. It’s been 14 years since my last visit and I saw a lot of changes.
The last time I was there was a few months after the September 11 attacks. Everything was bleak and you can feel a chill in the air. This time around I stayed at the Conrad Hotel Suit at North End Ave just a few block from ground zero and you can see how much it has changed. There is a lot of new construction and a lot of people visiting the memorial. So far there is one tower completed and the construction companies are working on the second tower. From what I read there will be a total of four. The second tower renditions they are working on looks like a stadium on the bottom and will have retail shops at ground level and offices in the upper floors.
I was able to catch the name on their mesh vest on one of the many construction crews there. Turner was one of them and is partnering with another company (Skanska) in the main project. You can see the pride in the men and women there. They know they are part of something great and historic. The work they have done and continue to do has come out great. I hope the next time ago I will able to see the completed project on all four towers. If you plan to go to New York, this should be a must stop in your plans.

This year again sees a huge winter storm that has or is forcing schools and business to close. Preparations are underway to keep roads closed or clean of snow along the East Coast of the United States. The National Weather Service has advised citizens to prepare with adequate food, shelter and winter clothing. As many as tens of millions of people could be affected over the days to come by this sever storm front.
Snow is not the only danger that is being presented by this frigid winter storm In addition to snow ice and other wet dangerous conditions can be seen in the Carolinas and wild rain in South Florida. If you must travel and be out in this weather make sure to do it if it’s necessary and prepare yourself with the appropriate snow jackets or winter suits. Besides keeping your body warm and dry, having proper foot wear is also crucial as they prevent from slipping in wet conditions.
Freezer wear is specialized clothing for workers in industrial temperature controlled work environments. This extreme cold clothing can also be used by other users in non controlled environments or outdoor work such as snow plowing or frigid weather. There are a few big names in this type of work wear. All which have a standard comfort rating depending on the work environment. The main two are : Cooler Work Wear and Freezer Work Wear.
Cooler Wear is a specialized type of clothing best suited for supermarkets or facilities that maintain a maximum of -35 degrees coolers. The clothing is made with 7 oz insulation and the outer fabric is made of either ripstop material or a nylon danier. Both are water repellent but the later is more resistant to tears.
Freezer Wear is a more rugged selection made for extreme cold like blast freezers of places that can get up to -50 degrees. We have seen the outer nylon shell go from 800 to 420 danier. These two are water and air tight and they come in different styles like coat and bib pants.
