Hope all of you had a great summer. Now that kids are back in school I was able to take a short vacation to my hometown of New York City. It’s been 14 years since my last visit and I saw a lot of changes.
The last time I was there was a few months after the September 11 attacks. Everything was bleak and you can feel a chill in the air. This time around I stayed at the Conrad Hotel Suit at North End Ave just a few block from ground zero and you can see how much it has changed. There is a lot of new construction and a lot of people visiting the memorial. So far there is one tower completed and the construction companies are working on the second tower. From what I read there will be a total of four. The second tower renditions they are working on looks like a stadium on the bottom and will have retail shops at ground level and offices in the upper floors.
I was able to catch the name on their mesh vest on one of the many construction crews there. Turner was one of them and is partnering with another company (Skanska) in the main project. You can see the pride in the men and women there. They know they are part of something great and historic. The work they have done and continue to do has come out great. I hope the next time ago I will able to see the completed project on all four towers. If you plan to go to New York, this should be a must stop in your plans.
